How MarqVision earned ChatGPT and Gemini citations and lifted UK demos in 6 weeks
A legal tech company in brand protection closed the ranking gap on legacy competitors and turned AI search into a measurable demo source.
Suddenly MarqVision were mentioned in ChatGPT and Gemini. I think what you guys offer is very quick service from the get-go. You know which is working and which is not, and you are students of your own game, which is always a good thing. You're offering a lot of thought leadership and breaking down quick wins that you can make in SEO and your content, and making it not sound as complicated.
The challenge
MarqVision is a legal tech company in the brand protection space, with teams in the US, South Korea, Paris, and London. The Korean side of the business had historically focused on Naver and other local search engines, so global SEO had never been a serious effort.
When Luke joined, the position was specific:
- Zero AI search visibility. No appearances in ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity responses for category questions.
- Lagging on product-name keywords. Legacy competitors were ranking ahead on the exact terms tied to MarqVision’s own product names.
- Skipped fundamentals. The internal preference had been for big thought-leadership pieces, but the SEO basics, like ranking against the competitors winning the same head terms, had been left undone.
Luke was also wary of the typical agency contract: a first month spent on strategy decks, with extra hours billed for everything else.
What we changed
Strategy was effectively agreed before the contract was signed, so work started in week one with quick wins already on the table.
| Lever | What changed |
|---|---|
| SEO basics first | Competitor keyword analysis and closing the ranking gap on legacy players, run alongside the thought leadership the in-house team wanted to publish. |
| AI search visibility | Listicles and content patterns specifically built for citation in ChatGPT and Gemini responses, layered on top of classic SEO. |
| Refresh, not just publish | Updated and expanded existing pages that had performed well, instead of only shipping net-new content. |
| Flexible to product launches | Adjusted plans around new product launches rather than locking into a fixed editorial calendar. |
| Direct access to Sam | Hands-on advice on backlinks, new SEO trends, and what was actually working versus the noise on LinkedIn. |
The outcome
Inside the first six weeks, internal teams at MarqVision started asking where the new UK demos were coming from. The blog content was the clear source.
- UK demo requests stepped up materially after week six.
- Cited in ChatGPT and Gemini responses for category queries, a major internal talking point given how much AI search visibility matters right now.
- Quick AI wins came from SEO basics done well, not from anything exotic.
- Refreshed content beat expectations alongside the new launches and new posts.
Luke’s takeaway: smaller and more flexible beats bigger and more rigid for SaaS marketing teams that need to test fast. Locking into a large agency, where the work happens offshore and the first month gets eaten by strategy decks, is the wrong shape for a fast-moving B2B team.
